| Rums & Bumbletons is a brand. A formula for everything that works for a quartet of the
musically inclined. Rums & Bumbletons is a compound made up of four elements, Dick Syn (guitar),
Stone Catcherye (vocals), Delphi Finn (drums) and Kramwell Ellavalled (bass). Their blend of
music involves chemistry, physics, grammar and horology. The band began two years ago. There were previous line-ups however, the founders and core songwriters -
Catcherye & Syn decided to reinvent Rums and ignite a spark. They found that spark in Finn (Syn's)
roommate and in Kramwell (Catcherye's cousin). It was apparent when they all got into the
same room that there was some sort of fire going on inside.
Soon after their inception, they found themselves opening for Blind Melon at The Webster Theatre, in
Hartford, CT. Before that the band headlined an original band showcase at the
infamous Toad's Place in New Haven and was chosen as WCCC's (106.9 the Rock)
HomeGrown Featured Artist and was interviewed on air, and had three tracks put
into rotation. The songs were from their 2008 demo, Rumination. (A five song
demo recorded with one microphone and an 8-track recorder.) Rums & Bumbletons' music
was also put into rotation by AmpRadio, a streaming station in CT.
The musical influences are diverse and their methods are even stranger in some cases. Influences
range from Led Zeppelin to Cher to Alice in Chains to Jack Johnson to Run DMC to Herbie Hancock
and then back again. Perhaps that's what gives their music it's uniqueness, or maybe it's their
unconventional methods of songwriting. Syn & Catcherye have penned songs in other peoples' bathrooms,
in cars and even in a graveyard. Inspiration is a major contribution, and it seems they're always
inspired.
Inspiration isn't their only accomplice, also in the band is a private music instructor, a professional musician
from the National Guard, a sound recording engineer and an impressionist. They are all comedians and all seem
to have their own quirky additions to the "character" of the band.
Rums & Bumbletons is now finishing up their new cd, "Ahrenbe", a five song EP, to be available digitally by
December 25, 2009. More information on the band and where they're playing can be found at www.rumsandbumbletons.com. |
